ABSTRACT
AI AND HOW SKF WILL SAVE YOUR DIGITALIZATION JOURNEY
SKF is the world’s leading manufacturer of rolling element bearings, with over a century of experience in rotating equipment, and has been providing technology and services for Condition Monitoring since the 1980’s. The subject of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) has been a hot topic in recent years, with much activity around plant data-lakes, advanced analytics and Predictive Maintenance (PdM). With Condition Monitoring being a key element in a PdM strategy, SKF could not neglect AI/ML and has taken initiatives to implement such technology. With databases from multiple industries, gathered over many years of providing PdM services, SKF has been able to apply AI/ML techniques to real-world data. The results so far have shown that scaling-up from nice clean pilot programs is a challenge. The presentation will discuss what AI/ML/digitalization means today within Machine Condition Monitoring, reflect on some of the challenges encountered, and discuss the practical ways forward that SKF has found in delivery of its services to customers.
