ABSTRACT
MACHINERY REVAMPING AND MAINTENANCE: BEST PRACTICES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FROM SAFETY REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS
Revamping activity on manufacturing equipment, machineries and plants has a high impact on companies and requires the involvement of several functions (e.g. maintenance service, technical office, purchase office, HSE management, executive direction). In this complex scenario, the flawless control of the whole supply chain and the compliance to the current regulation should to be monitored starting from the first steps of the process of revamping and adjustment.
The newly released European Machinery Regulation states that safety measure for existing and new machinery are full responsibilities of the subjects operating on the machinery under modification and revamping.
The European harmonized Standards are a critical reference point for the majority of technical aspects concerning project, installation, testing and further control during the revamping process.
The speech aims to provide an overview on the best practice and check list for a flawless management of the revamping process on equipments and machineries, as well as on the extraordinary interventions to improve the safety during this adjustments processes.
